Arthur Slaughenhoupt
Arthur Pierce Slaughenhoupt, 59, of Bruin died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday at his home following a brief illness.
Born in Ickeytown, Clarion County, on Dec. 11, 1944, he was the son of the late Lee Ellsworth Slaughenhoupt and Mildred Brothers Slaughenhoupt.
He was a Army veteran and a sharpshooter from 1962 to 1964. He was stationed in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion, Kaylor Post 488 of Brady's Bend.
Mr. Slaughenhoupt was a graduate of Karns City High School Class of 1962 and had attended the Bruin United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department where he was a line officer and an emergency medical technician. He was a member of the Petroleum Valley Sportsman Club where he taught hunter safety. He had been employed by Walker Gas and Oil of Bruin for years. He retired from AK Steel in Butler in 2004 after 17 years as a welder.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel L. Bell, whom he married on Dec. 3, 1968; three daughters, Julie A. Slaughenhoupt of Leola in Lancaster County, Mrs. Derek (Judy) Brown of Butler and Mrs. Gary (Jessica) Noblitt of Yokosuka, Japan; a son, James A. Slaughenhoupt of Bruin; two step-grandchildren, Joey and William Noblitt of San Diego; a brother, James Slaughenhoupt of Petrolia; a sister, Louise Morrison of Parker and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1972, his father in 1973, three brothers and one sister.
SLAUGHENHOUPT - Friends of Arthur Pierce Slaughenhoupt, who died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the RICHARD D. HARRIS FUNERAL HOME in Petrolia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wade R. Berkey of the Bruin United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.
