Cyril E. Sagan

In loving memory of Cyril E. Sagan, 77, of Volant, who died Wednesday at St. Marys Hospital, Rochest-er, Minn., of heart and lung complications.

Born Sept. 8, 1927, in Springdale, Allegheny County, he was the son of Cyril Thomas and Bertha Kosa Sagan,

He was a professor emeritus of chemistry at Slippery Rock University, where he taught for 32 years. He was a member of the American Chemical Society.

Mr. Sagan was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by five children, Rosalind Kasunick of Mainz, Germany, Monica Sagan of Melbourne Fla., Cyril Edward Sagan of Raleigh N.C., Agnes Howard of Georgetown Mass., and Clement Sagan of Dearborn Mich.; and seven grandchildren. A brother, Emil A. Sagan of South Carolina; and a sister, Martha Daly of Ridley, Park, Delaware County, also survive.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Edward; and three sisters, Betty Sagan, Susan Felock, and Josephine Reed.

SAGAN — Friends Cyril E. Sagan, who died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME, 801 Pittsburgh St., Springdale. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Church, Springdale, with the Rev. George Saladna officiating.
