Irene A. Schneider
Irene A. Schneider, 89, of Concordia Lutheran Home, Cabot, formerly of Washington Township, died Friday in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights.
Born Feb. 20, 1915, in McKees Rocks, she was the daughter of John and Mary Yunker Taylor.
She was an elementary school teacher for the Kiski School District for 10 years and retired in 1979.
She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo, where she was a member of the Rosary Confraternity. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a member of the Democratic Committee and an alumni of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
She was also involved with Meals-On-Wheels and enjoyed playing cards, singing and crafts.
She is survived by three sons, George H. “Tink” Schneider and his wife, Carol, of Washington Township, John T. Schneider and his wife, Alice, of Enon Valley, and James C. Schneider and his wife, Loretta, of Wilmington, Del.; two daughters, Jane Miller and her husband, Jon, of Saxonburg, and Lucy Ceraso and her husband, Charles, of Cumming, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Schneider, who died in 1989; three sisters, Leah Sonnett, Flavia Wallace and Mary Conway; and a great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Schneider.
SCHNEIDER — Friends of Irene A. Schneider, who died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME, 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA 15613. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo. The Rev. John T. Sweeney will officiate.
