Gayle I. Starr
Gayle I. Starr, 85, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Jefferson Center, died Saturday at Select Specialty Care at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born Oct. 8, 1918 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of Clarence Yost and Mary Elizabeth Miller Dick.
Mrs. Starr was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary in Carlisle and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Mechanicsburg.
Her husband, Maurice Everett Starr, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Richard M. Starr of Kittanning, and eight daughters, Lois S. Eckert and Elizabeth G. Spahr, both of Mechanicsburg; Dorothy A. Veselich of Butler; Nancy L. Wells of Las Vegas; Jeanette T. Ziemer of Joshua, Texas; Carol L. Barrick of Shermans Dale; Vicki S. Knepp of Newville; and Terry J. Bland of San Diego.
Also surviving are two brothers, Clarence W. Dick of California and James V. Dick of Nevada; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
STARR - Friends of Gayle I. Starr, who died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at MYERS FUNERAL HOME, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jamie Kjos will officiate.
