Lloyd W. Weckerly
Lloyd W. Weckerly, 79, of Mars died early today at Sunrise Assisted Living, Adams Township.
Born in Clarion County, July 4, 1925, he was the son of Charles and Emma Stubble Weckerly.
He retired as a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad at the Conrail yards. He enjoyed trains, gardening, playing cards, fishing and hunting.
Mr. Weckerly was a member of the Old Union Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jan (Bonnie) Smith of Butler, Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Bittel of State College, Mrs. Joseph (Alice) Lengyel of Manheim, Lancaster County, and Mrs. David (Brenda) Dollhopf of Mars; a son, Larry Weckerly (Pam) of Allison Park; eight grandchildren, Terri Faust, Daniel Smith, Erik and Brad Bittel, Ryan and Emma Lengyel and Colton and Caitlin Weckerly; and two great-grandchildren, Gregory Kretzer and Jakob Faust.
He also is survived by two sisters, Gladys Aaron of Strattonville and Mabel Murray of Clintonville; a brother, Lawrence Weckerly of Emlenton; and a special friend, Dorothy McCullough of Butler.
His wife, Lavonne Reese Weckerly, whom he married Dec. 3, 1949, died Feb. 26, 1993. A brother, Maurice "Morris" Weckerly, also preceded him in death.
WECKERLY - Friends of Lloyd W. Weckerly, who died Friday, March 18, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday atMcDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Peter deVries, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, Adams Township.
