Freeport runs past Apollo-Ridge

Kiel Conjack, Shane Sarver and Ian Kaminski each captured two running events to key the Freeport boys track team to a 114-36 victory over Apollo-Ridge Tuesday.

In the girls meet, Lacey Cochran won the 100, 200 and 400 and anchored the 1,600-relay team in a 106-44 romp.

Both teams improved to 7-0 and will travel to Riverview Thursday.

Knoch's Tuesday meet against Sharon and Slippery Rock Tuesday was cancelled due to lightning.

Kyle Texter hit a home run, singled and drove in two runs as Karns City toppled A-C Valley 6-1 Tuesday.Coty McGregor picked up the win, striking out six and walking just one in seven innings. Sara Vinca hit two home runs and drove in four, but couldn't overcome her own wildness on the mound as Moniteau fell to Keystone 11-9 Tuesday.Vinca walked 14 and was hurt by seven errors behind her in the loss.Keystone scored 11 runs despite collecting only three singles. Butler's Jane Resnick scored two goals and Elizabeth Small and Yuki Schaper had one apiece, but the Tornado lost a tough 5-4 double-overtime decision to Hampton.With the game tied at 3-all, the Talbots netted a goal in the first three-minute overtime before Resnick countered with the equalizer inside the final minute of the second overtime.The Talbots however, were able to pull out the win.Butler (1-8) will play at Quaker Valley Thursday.
