Mike Shidemantle

Mike Shidemantle, 91, of 284 W. Park Road in Muddy Creek Township died at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Countryside Convalescent Home in Mercer.

Born in Portersville, July 30, 1913, he was the son of Blaine and Susan Bauder Shidemantle.

He was a retired farmer and owned a farm in Portersville.

Mr. Shidemantle was a member of the Portersville Presbyterian Church and the Keenagers of Portersville.

Surviving are his wife, Sara M. Myers Shidemantle, whom he married Nov. 17, 1939; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Oliver Gatts of Atlantic, Crawford County, Sue and Jack Weigle of Portersville and Patricia and Tom Brown of New Castle; a son, Michael Shidemantle of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers, Dick Shidemantle and his wife, Sarah, of Conneaut Lake and Jerry Shidemantle of Wampum; three sisters, Esther Dick of Zelienople and Grace Cheeseman and her husband, George, and Ruby McNichol and her husband, Bob, all of Portersville.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam, Bill, Irvin and Norm; and a sister, Betty.

SHIDEMANTLE - Friends of Mike Shidemantle, who died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Portersville Presbyterian Church, Route 19, with the Rev. Dana Opp officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
