Charles L. Hetrick
Charles LeRoy Case Hetrick, 79, of 919 Madison Ave., East Butler, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 31, 1925, in Summit Township, he was a son of Charles and Bertha Kroh Hetrick.
Mr. Hetrick worked in the paint shop at Pullman Standard, retiring in 1980 after 33 years.
He was a Protestant.
In his earlier years, he was a popular country-western disc jockey for radio station WBUT and had his own radio show, "The Uncle Charlie Show."
His Saturday afternoon performance, which was known as the "Butler County Jamboree," attracted thousands of listeners with his "Country Gold Hour" and his top 20 hits from the country charts.
Mr. Hetrick also had been on the staff at one of Western Pennsylvania's largest country parks, the Country Paradise Park in Armstrong County. There he shared the chore of master of ceremonies for many of the Nashville Opera stars.
He attended Butler High School and had been a lifelong resident of East Butler.
He was a life member and acted as president of East Butler Fireman's Club. He was a former borough council member of East Butler and was one of the founding fathers of the East Butler Little League Association.
Mr. Hetrick was president of the bicentennial committee in East Butler and was a member of the Hick Reges Hell Drivers, the Sons of Italy and was chairman for the Butler County Beauty Pageant.
He is survived by his wife, Ines Hetrick, whom he married June 21, 1957.
Also surviving are a daughter, Susan Shever of East Butler; a son, Michael Hetrick of East Butler; a sister, Mrs. Fred Holfman of East Butler; a brother, the Rev. Paul Hetrick of Alhambra, Calif.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son and four sisters.
<B>HETRICK</B> - Friends of Charles LeRoy Case Hetrick, who died Friday, March 25, 2005 will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 127 E. North St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Jenks, pastor of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, officiating.
