Olga Zavacky

Olga Zavacky, 91, formerly of Penn Avenue in Lyndora, died Tuesday at Lowrie House.

Born July 2, 1913, in Lyndora, she was a daughter of John and Anna Sluk Zavacky.

She was a World War II veteran of the Coast Guard Women’s Reserve and retired in 1976 from the Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., after 30 years as a secretary.

Miss Zavacky was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Lyndora, where she belonged to the Sisterhood of the Altar and the choir.

She also was a member of the Michael Kosar American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

Surviving are a brother, John Zavacky of Lyndora; five sisters, Anne “Amy” Passarelli, Julie Gavula, Eugenia King and Christina Soley, all of Butler, and Georgia Hartman of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

ZAVACKY — Friends of Olga Zavacky, who died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Wargo officiating. Divine Liturgy will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Orthodox Church, Lyndora.
