Howard L. "Greenie" Green, 80, of 117 Carnegie St. died at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lowrie House.

Born in East Butler, Oct. 22, 1924, he was the son of Carl and Elise Younkins Green.

He retired Jan. 31, 1986, as a steelworker at Armco-Butler Works.

During World War II, he served with the Army in Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a volunteer at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a member of the Joseph T. Black VFW Post 249.

Mr. Green was a Protestant. He also belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 64 and he enjoyed gardening and bowling.

Surviving are a son, William C. Green of Youngstown, Ohio; three stepsons, Christopher and Larry Robinson, both of Prospect, and Duane Robinson of Renfrew; a stepdaughter, Patricia Raskowsky of New Castle; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Riding of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Virginia Gould of Los Angeles; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

His first wife, Mary Isabelle Wolfrom Green, died Nov. 12, 1979; and his second wife, Frances Robinson Green, died in April 2002. Seven brothers also preceded him in death.

GREEN - Friends of Howard L. "Greenie" Green, who died Thursday, March 31, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Harvey, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America.
