William "Bill" Calhoun
William "Bill" Calhoun, 86, formerly of Kennedy Lane, Butler, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler Township.
Born March 15, 1919, in Brockway, he was a son of Charles and Olive Morrison Calhoun.
Mr. Calhoun was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
He retired in 1984 as co-owner of Bordelle Ice Cream Sales in Mount Chestnut. He also had been employed by Olsens Dairy and Country Belle Dairy's in Butler.
Mr. Calhoun was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the church's Wesley Bible Class.
He was a lifetime member of the Joseph T. Black Post 249 of Butler, and a member of UCT, and he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Mr. Calhoun is survived by his son, Chuck. Calhoun and his wife, Lou, of Florence, Texas; a daughter, Betty Uber and her husband, Tom, of Butler; three granddaughters, Michele Chiprean of Erie, Beth Wilbert of Fenelton and Wendy Calhoun of Florence, Texas; a grandson, Kelly Calhoun of Georgetown, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Marybelle Corbett of Clarion and Mrs. Bonnie Bell of Brockway; and two brothers, Robert Calhoun and Wayne Calhoun, both of Brockway.
His extended family, Lorie Troyan and her husband, Gene, and their sons, Chad and Shane, all of Butler, also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Calhoun.
CALHOUN - Friends of William "Bill" Calhoun, who died Sunday, April 3, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North, St., Butler. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. David Panther, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.Military services will be held at the Butler County Memorial Park by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 249.Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
