Margie A. Schaffner

Margie A. Hinchberger Schaffner, 85, of Boerne, Texas, formerly of Butler, died April 3 in San Antonio, Texas.

Born in Butler, Oct. 7, 1919, she was a daughter of Louis N. and Elizabeth Burns Hinchberger.

She was the widow of Butler native, Chief Master Sgt. James D. Schaffner, whom she married Oct. 21, 1940, in Butler. He died Aug. 1, 1992. He was a 27 year career veteran of the Air Force and served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam era.

During that time, they lived in Japan, Washington D.C., Germany, Georgia, Colorado and the San Antonio area. They moved from Butler in 1948.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, Leon Springs, Texas.

Surviving are two sons, James L. Schaffner and his wife, Mary, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gregory Schaffner and his wife, Donna, of Dallas; three daughters, Nancy Adamson of Boerne, Mary L. Rellstab and her husband, George, of San Antonio and Deborah A. Traynor and her husband, Tim, with whom she had made her home in Boerne; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Lawrence, Arthur, Claude "Dutch," Dr. Paul A. and Mark Hinchberger; and three sisters, Lillian Geibel, Louise Ewing and Mildred Hinchberger.

<B>SCHAFFNER</b> - A Mass of Christian burial for Margie A. Hinchberger Schaffner, who died Sunday, April 3, 2005, was celebrated Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, Leon Springs, with the Rev Patrick Marron as celebrant.
