Peter Shuber

Peter Shuber, 89, formerly of West Penn Street, died Saturday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Born April 13, 1916, in Butler, he was a son of Anthony and Paraska Ilkiw Shuber.

He was a graduate of Butler High School and was a member of his high school basketball team.

Mr. Shuber retired as a foreman in the stainless shipping department at Plant 2, Armco-Butler Works in 1983 after 43 years.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler. He was also a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center, AARP and the Armco Veterans Club.

Surviving are his loving companion of many years, Donna J. Smith of Butler; a daughter and her husband, Patricia L. and William M. Cole of Butler; a son and his wife, Peter A. and Lori J. Shuber of Butler; and four grandchildren, Stacie Cole of Pittsburgh and Julie Cole and Jordan and Jocelyn Shuber, all of Butler. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

His wife, Helen E. Peltz Shuber, whom he married Sept. 22, 1940, died Feb. 14, 1979. He also was preceded in death by infant twin sons and three brothers, John, Michael, and Stephen Shuber.

Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Dollhopf, pastor of First English Lutheran Church and the Rev.
