Everette J. George
Everette J. George, 86, of Elderton, Armstrong County, died Monday at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning.
Born April 13, 1919, in White Township, Indiana County, he was the son of John R. and Myrtle A. Smeltzer George.
He retired in 1981 as a maintenance man at Pullman Standard after more than 25 years. From 1938 to 1939, he worked at New Castle radio station WKST and produced a record of himself playing the harmonica. He was known for and enjoyed restoring old engines and tractors and washing machine motors. Some of his old restored engines have been sold to people in foreign countries
Mr. George attended the Faith Baptist Church of Shelocta, Armstrong County. He was a member of the Old Thresherman's Steam Engine Organization.
He is survived by two sons, E. Paul George and his wife, Dessie of Russell, Warren County, and Larry J. George and his wife, Karen of Apollo, Westmoreland County; three daughters, Barbara L. Coy and her husband, Richard of Graceton, Indiana County, Lorna J. Spencer and her husband, Samuel of Ronks, Lancaster County, and Jacqueline K. Verner and her husband, Randy of Elderton; and two brothers, Samuel D. George of Bryan, Texas, and Lloyd George and his wife, Donna of Elderton. Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jean Anderson George, who died May 7, 2004; a brother, Homer George; two infant brothers; two sisters, Mildred McElhattan and Betty Blystone; and an infant sister.
GEORGE - Friends of Everette J. George, who died Monday, April 25, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at CLARK CHAPEL of BAUER FUNERAL HOME, 238 S. Main St., Elderton. Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church, Shelocta, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Arthur Lockard Sr. and the Rev.
