John Callender Sr.

John Clyde Alvin Callender Sr., 61, of Chicora died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Born Aug. 18, 1943, in Butler, he was the son of the late William and Sara Ediburn Callender.

He was a Marine Corps veteran and retired as a foreman from the coal mines.

Mr. Callender belonged to the Masonic Temple, where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Cricks Callender; four sons, John Jr., Bobbie and Ronnie Callender, all of Chicora and Robert Gould of Herman; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Harry R. Callender of East Canton, Ohio; a sister, Helen Clawson of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

CALLENDER - Funeral arrangements were private and were handled by THOMAS M STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, Chicora.
