POTPOURRI & FAMILY REUNIONS

MARS - Registration is now being accepted for the Adams Ridge 5K and 8K Challenge and Kids Fun Run Sept. 18 at the Adams Ridge Community Center, off Route 228.

The 5K and 8K run will begin at 9 a.m. and the fun run for children will begin at 10 a.m.

Entry fee is $15 through Saturday or $18 Sunday through Sept. 18. Participants will be entered into a raffle.

Proceeds benefit the Mars Public Library, Adams Township Park and the Mars-Adams Township Fire Police.

The Associated Artists of Butler County will host a variety of after school arts classes at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.Sponsored by Sprint, classes will include art history, batik, metalsmithing, ceramics and sculpture, drawing, writing, jewelry-making and photography. CABOT - The Cooper Cabin Pioneer Homestead, 199 Cooper Road, will host a Cider and Sauerkraut Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.The event will include cider pressing and demonstrations of how to make sauerkraut, apple butter and ice cream.Members of the Eastern Lenape Nation of Native Americans will display crafts and perform during the event.Refreshments will be available for purchase.Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for youth ages 5 to 17 and free for children younger than 5.For information, contact the Butler County Historical Society at 724-283-8116.

The Butler Kiwanis Club will be distributing peanuts at Wal-Mart and Friedman's supermarkets today.Donations will be accepted to fund community projects.
