3:35 p.m. Tuesday - A car driven by Jeffrey Shearer, 54, of Butler was backing up on West Penn Street at the North Washington Street intersection when it struck two children walking behind. Although unspecified injuries were reported, no medical transportation was requested. Shearer's vehicle was blocking pedestrian traffic while he was attempting to back his car to where it should be stopped in an active school zone. Erik May, 11, and Henry May, 9, of Butler were walking around the vehicle since they didn't have room in front of it. Shearer was charged with fleeing the scene of the accident.2:23 a.m. Sunday - A vehicle driven by Jason Schindler, 31, of Butler struck a crane at the intersection of Euclid and Garfield avenues. Along with traffic violations, including driving without a license, Schindler faces a disorderly conduct charge after various reported altercations, including one with the tow truck driver removing the vehicle. Members of the Butler Fire Department reported the accident. The crane was pulling up an excavator that rolled over a hill.2:35 a.m. Saturday - Garry Swartzwelder, 36, of Butler faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after police responded to a disturbance call at 112 Cross St. A teenage girl told police Swartzwelder was banging on the door, demanding to be let inside. She said Swartzwelder wouldn't leave even after she told him her mother, his girlfriend, wasn't home. After police found him on the porch, a metal pipe containing marijuana residue was found in one of his pockets. He was later released from a holding cell at the police station.

7:10 a.m. Sunday - Michael Geibel, 48, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence after police stopped his vehicle on Alameda Park Road for erratic driving.1:55 a.m. Sunday - William Patterson, 32, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence after police stopped his truck on Alameda Road for driving on the wrong side of the road without headlights on.
