LaRue Hickok Adsit

LaRue Hickok Adsit, 89, of 807 Lincoln Ave, Grove City, went to be with her Lord in glory at 3:31 a.m. Saturday at United Community Hospital, Grove City, after a long illness.

Born June 20, 1916, in Marion Center, she was the daughter of Hugh L. and Katherine Palmer Hickok.

She was a 1933 graduate of Clintonville High School and a 1940 graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh. She retired from Cooper Energy Services, Grove City, after 37 years as a nurse.

Mrs. Adsit also owned the Ceramic Hobby Center on Route 58 east of Grove City for more than 30 years and taught ceramic lessons to hundreds of students with her sister, Ruth, and niece, Jean.

She was a faithful member, treasurer and organist at the Bell Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church, Boyers, for 34 years.

She was a loving sister-in-law, aunt and friend, dedicated to her church and always giving. She will be greatly missed by many.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Claire Adsit Sherhag of Grove City; two sisters-in-law, Jean Hickok of Grove City and Norma Hickok of New Castle; 13 nieces and nephews; 21 grandnieces and grand nephews; 13 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and several step-great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Robert William Adsit Sr., whom she married Nov. 29, 1958, died May 18, 1996. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Hugh and Ord Hickok; a sister, Ruth Blakely, and two stepsons, Robert and Richard Adsit.

ADSIT — Private family visitation for LaRue Hickok Adsit, who died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. A graveside service will follow at Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.A memorial service, open to the public, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bell Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church, Boyers, with the Rev. Gary Warinner officiating.
