Donald D. Lumley, Sr.

Donald D. Lumley, Sr., 82, of Fellowship Manor, Orchard Drive, Grove City, died at 5:05 p.m. Friday at the United Community Hospital in Pine Township.

He was born in Harrisville on July 19, 1923, the son of James and Jane Shuttleworth Lumley.

Mr. Lumley was a 1941 graduate of Harrisville High School and went on to be a self-employed meat cutter in Harrisville until retiring in 1984. He also had worked at A&P stores and McKees Market in Harrisville.

He attended the West Unity Community Church in Marion Township. He was a charter member of the Harrisville Lions Club and a charter member of the Harrisville American Legion Post 852, where he had been a past commander.

He was a former Harrisville Borough Council member and a former Harrisville Borough tax collector.

Mr. Lumley served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Vesta A. Barker Lumley, whom he married on Sept 14, 1947; one daughter, Marilyn D. Fox of Hubbard, Ohio; two sons, James R. Lumley of Redding, Ca. and Donald D. Lumley, Jr. of Grove City; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Orpha Eaton of Harrisville; and one brother, Dean Lumley of Grove City.

Mr. Lumley was preceded in death by eight brothers.

LUMLEY - Friends of Donald D. Lumley, Sr., who died Friday Sept. 30, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at JAMISON FUNERAL HOME 117 N. Main St. Harrisville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the West Unity Community Church with Pastor Boyd D. Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.Memorial donations may be made to the West Unity Community Church, 400 Unity Road, Harrisville, PA 16038.
