Janet Lyon Sketchley, 80, of Charlottesville, Va., died Monday at a Charlottesville area care facility.

Born Jan. 5, 1925, in Butler, she was the daughter of Samuel and Nancy Murphy Lyon.

Mrs. Sketchley retired from the University of Virginia after years at Alderman Library and the athletic department.

Surviving are a daughter, Anne Robertson and her husband, Thomas, of Richmond, Va.; a son, R.G. Sketchley and his wife, Jane, of Falls Church, Va.; three grandchildren, Anne-Taylor, Elizabeth, and David; a sister, Helen Kearney of Atlanta, Ga.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Two sisters, Clara Mikesell and Dorothy Palm; and two brothers, James and John Lyon, preceded her in death.

SKETCHLEY - A funeral service for Janet Lyon Sketchley, who died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
