Gallery 164 at 164 S. Main St. in Slippery Rock is showing "Water Filter Receptacle Exhibition" through Nov. 23. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Call 724-794-3600.

The Mary Hulton Phillips Gallery in the Science and Technology building at Butler County Community College is featuring paintings by Doreen Currie and Kathleen Hicks through Nov. 30. The exhibit will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call 724-284-8505.

Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., has now opened newly exhibited pieces in the Meissen Gallery. Also on display are hundreds of pieces of ancient and contemporary Asian art. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children age 8 and younger; children must be accompanied by an adult. Tours are led by trained docents and are available with advance notice. The museum also has a shop specializing in gifts and decorative art objects relating to China and Japan. Associated Artists of Butler County today concludes a memorial exhibit of the works of the late Slippery Rock University art professor Michael Changnon and past and present works of Changnon's former students at the AABC Art Center, 344 S. Main St. Also exhibited are Gay Carson's photography and mixed media and Val Dallos' mixed media work. An opening reception for the annual Holiday Show and Sale will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18. <B>North Hills Art Center</B>, 3432 Babcock Blvd. in Ross Township, is hosting the annual Fall Membership Show, a juried, multi-media show including watercolors, oils, pottery and fiber art, through Nov. 19. Call 412-364-3622.<B>Frick Art and Historical Center</B>, 7227 Reynolds St. in the Point Breeze section of Pittsburgh, hosts " "To Observe and Imagine: British Drawings and Watercolors from the Morgan Library 1600-1900" through Dec. 31. Picturesque views, fascinating faces and unsurpassed watercolor technique highlight this selection of 102 master drawings and watercolors from the library's collection of British art. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays; closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is free. <B>Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts</B> , 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, presents the work of three artists in "Outside Our Windows" Tuesday through Dec. 23. The type of painting known as "plein-air" or open air will be exhibited by Wendy Warner and Kevin McLatchy, both of New Wilmington, and Ron Donoughe of Lawrenceville. The first members exhibition is being shown in the Blair Sculpture Walkway Gallery. The opening reception is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 20, in conjunction with the fall open house. Refreshments will be served. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; closed Sundays and Mondays.
