George T. Matuke

George T. Matuke, 67, of Butler died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter after an illness.

Born in Butler, March 10, 1938, he was a son of the late John Matuke and the late Lena Stanley Walsh.

Since 1990, he has owned and operated George Matuke Auto Sales Co. on Route 38 in Concord Township.

He was a member of the Sons of Italy Club and was an active member of the Cubs A.S.A., where he had managed the bingo games for the Cubs, the Butler Baseball Association and other organizations. He enjoyed calling bingo, which he had done for 28 years. He also enjoyed gardening and working outdoors, especially mowing grass.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Jones Matuke, whom he married Dec. 23, 1987; a son, Albert Matuke of Winter Park, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Chet (Michele) Allen of Saxonburg and Mrs. Todd (Julie) Lumpkin of Rockhill, S.C.; a brother, John Matuke of Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Ted (Mary Ann) Crowley of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Larry (Patty) Fleeger and Sally Matuke, both of Butler; and five grandchildren, Gretchen, Erika and Jennifer Allen and Ashley and William Lumpkin. His former wife, Pearl "Scooter" Klein of Kentucky, also survives.

MATUKE — Friends of George T. Matuke, who died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen, pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, officiating.
