Outpatient Services of Butler Memorial Hospital now offers screening mammography at most of its off-campus locations.

Patients can schedule screening mammograms at the outpatient services in the Cypher Professional Building on East Brady Street; in the facility at Butler Commons on New Castle Road; in the DiCuccio Professional Building on East Jefferson Street in Butler; in the Hoffman Medical Building in East Brady; and at locations in Mars, Sarver, Saxonburg and Slippery Rock.

This expansion is part of the hospital's continuing effort to provide convenient, quality service through its outpatient areas.

While the outpatient service sites offer first- come, first-service laboratory testing and X-ray screening, mammography appointments need to be scheduled.

"As always, patients schedule mammograms by calling 724-284-4000, our central scheduling number at the hospital," said Jana Panther, radiology supervisor. "With mammography expanding in these locations, patients can request their favorite outpatient site or request a new site located close to home."

The American Cancer Society recommends women age 40 to 49 have a mammogram every one to two years and women age 50 or older have a mammogram every year.
