Marshall ‘Ed’ Cumberland
Marshall “Ed” Cumberland, 71, of Butler, died at 1:48 p.m. Saturday at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Chicora, the son of the late Marshall L. Cumberland and Jessie O. Brooks Cumberland.
He retired from Armco in 1996 after 32 years of service as an operator. He enjoyed bowling and had been a Unionville Volunteer Fire Department fireman.
He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 64 and West Sunbury American Legion 243 and the present commander of the AMVETS Post 272.
Mr. Cumberland also was a volunteer escort at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Surviving are his mother of Butler; his wife, Joan Anderson Cumberland, whom he married May 16, 1960; a son, Scott Cumberland at home; a granddaughter, Paige Cumberland of Portersville; a sister, Phylliss Graham of Renfrew; a brother, Larry Cumberland of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marsha Bain.
CUMBERLAND — Private services and burial were held for Marshall “Ed” Cumberland, who died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, Interment was in the West Sunbury Union CemeteryArrangements were handled by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Butler.
