The Butler Arts Council is now selling admission buttons for the second annual Ring in the Arts New Year's Eve celebration in Downtown Butler.
Ring in the Arts will offer a range of local and regional talent in performances lasting 30 to 45 minutes so patrons can attend many different activities. The hours will be from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Events will take place in downtown Butler from Wayne Street to Pearl Street, inside restaurants, businesses, and Butler Arts Council facilities.
Ray Ryan and the New Orleans Riverside Band, the Harold Betters Quartet, the Tornado Big Band, The Merrymakers, and Mind's I will perform.
Many of the shows and activities will be geared for families with children, including movies at the Penn Theater and the Magic of Tim Kutch.
A "Ring in the Arts!" button will serve as an admission ticket to all events and is available at Friedman's and BiLo Grocery Stores, Miller's Shoes, the Butler County Symphony Association office and the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.
Individual buttons cost $10; family admission is $25.
A Hosanna! Holiday Celebration will take place Saturday at Greenwood Village Fire Hall, 110 Old Eberhart Road.A performance of "Because It's Christmas" will be presented by the Sing Hosanna! adult and children singers.The menu will include meat lasagna or chicken fettuccine alfredo, mandarin orange tossed salad, bread and butter, strawberry shortcake and beverage.Reservations are due. Associated Artists of Butler County will host a wine/appetizer reception and fashion show, highlighting "Fashion as Art" on Saturday at the AABC Art Center, 344 S. SLIPPERY — Tickets are now on sale for the Jan. 20 performance of the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company at Slippery Rock University.The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Auditorium on campus.The company blends American and Chinese movement. The New York-based company has performed in 35 states, as well as China, Poland and Guatemala, and has won numerous awards. The newly formed Revitalization Voices will present a fun and uplifting Christmas concert at 5 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Butler Penn Theater in the upstairs Bantam Venue.The concert will include numerous Christmas favorites, spirituals, and carols and will feature local vocalists Davlin Hupp, Kevin Mathias and Linda Mathias, along with flutist Ellen Dodge and pianist John Davey.Admission at the door is $10 for adults and $8 for students. PITTSBURGH — Tickets are now available for "Wicked," a new musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman based on the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire.Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One — born with emerald green skin — is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. "Wicked" tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.As part of the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series, "Wicked" is set to make its Pittsburgh premiere Feb. 22 at the Benedum Center.
