Leroy 'Bud' Rodgers

Leroy F. "Bud" Rodgers, 67, of Bradys Bend died Wednesday at his home.

Born June 15, 1938, in Chicora, he was the son of the late Leroy F. and Emma D. Kiser Rodgers.

He was a 1956 graduate of Karns City High School. He served in the Army's 151st Infantry and received the Parachutist Badge. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and dogs.

Mr. Rodgers was a boilermaker at the U.S. Steel Saxonburg Plant for 28½ years and worked at Indspec Chemical Co. in Petrolia for 15 years. He also served the Bradys Bend area by running errands for anyone needing help.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend and served on the maintenance committee at the church's St. Mary Cemetery. He also belonged to the United Steelworkers Union Local 5768 and Local 6316.

Surviving are his wife, Vonda L. Snow Rodgers, whom he married Nov. 22, 1965; a brother, Walter Young of Montgomery, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Ryan and Mrs. Andrew (Catherine) Steel, both of Chicora; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in two sisters and a brother.

RODGERS — Friends of Leroy F. "Bud: Rodgers, who died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Ditto officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Bradys Bend.A parish rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.A parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Cemetery, 915 State Route 68, East Brady, PA 16028; or to the East Brady Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 325, East Brady, PA 16028.
