Ronald Thomas, 71, of Butler died at 11:43 p.m. Friday at his home.

Born in Butler on July 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert Boyd Thomas and Gladys Elizabeth Mortimer Thomas of Butler.

Mr. Thomas was a member of the Community Alliance Church. He enjoyed bowling, walking and was an avid reader.

He retired from Armco Steel.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Cora Thomas of Butler; his mother; two daughters, Terri Holt Buttenfield and her husband, Bill, of Butler and Robin Cooper of Saxonburg; a son, Robert Thomas and his wife, Grace, of Butler; six grandchildren, Rusty and Kira Holt, Neal and Trish Holt, all of Butler, Aaron Cooper of Chicago, Amanda Cooper of Saxonburg, and Brandon and Nathan Thomas of Butler; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Holt of Butler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry Thomas and his wife, Anna Mae of Pittsburgh, Mary Gurner of Butler, Bea and Ed Hinds of Wisconsin, Sophie and Don Benware of Oklahoma, Ray and Liz Marcucci of California, Joe Marcucci of Washington state, Adolph and Vicki Marcucci of California and Nick and Della Marcucci of South Dakota.
