Sara Jean Oesterling

Sara Jean Oesterling, 84, of Clinton, Mich., died Tuesday in Toledo, Mich.

Born Jan. 10, 1921, in Adamsburg, Westmoreland County, she was the third of the 17 children of Charles and Margaret Jordan Heasley.

She moved to the Clinton area from Wayne, Mich., in 1983 and was a member of the Questers Antique Group, the Local Garden Club, the Clinton Women's Club and the Lenawee County Extension Group.

Mrs. Oesterling was an avid rug hooker and loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Oesterling, whom she married June 2, 1937; four sons, Howard (Betty) Oesterling of Tecumseh Mich., Robert (Sandra) Oesterling of East Tawas, Mich., Gene R. "Dick" (Bernie) Oesterling of Traverse City, Mich., and David Oesterling of Brooklyn; Mich.; a daughter, Ruth "Becky" (James) Kerns of Trenton; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Clifford (Sandy) Heasley and David Heasley both of Pennsylvania and Merle Heasley of Ohio; six sisters, Betty Cooper, Margy (William) Tebay, Imogene (James) Lyons, Janet Pherson and Donna (Lea) Downing, all of Pennsylvania and Shirley (John) Harper of California.

Six brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
