Kristina Kane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Kane of Butler, has been selected for promotion to the rank of colonel in the Air Force.A veteran of nearly 22 years, she is currently serving as deputy director of the NATO Communications and Information Systems Agency Sector Norfolk, Norfolk, Va., where she is responsible for all aspects of communications and information systems support to the NATO Supreme Allied Command Transformation headquarters.She anticipates her new rank in late spring or early summer of 2006.Navy Fireman Apprentice

Benjamin Huska, son of Benjamin and Susan Huska of Rural Valley, entered the Air Force's delayed entry program on May 5 and shipped to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas on Dec. 6.Huska is a 2005 graduate of Lenape Area Vocational-Technical school.Pvt.

Benjamin Nagy recently graduated from Marine Corps basic training at Parris Island, S.C.Nagy, a 2005 graduate of Butler High School, is the son of Paul Nagy Sr. and Ruth Anne Nagy of Chicora.While at basic training, he qualified as a sharpshooter with the M-16A2 service rifle as well as a tan belt in Marine Corps Martial Arts.He will next attend combat training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and then be assigned to Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., as a command and control electrician.Nagy is the forth generation of his family to serve in the Marine Corps.Air Force Airman
