John F. Maire Jr.
John F. Maire Jr., 53, of Butler died Wednesday at his home.
Born March 2, 1952, in Butler, he was a son of John and Joan Bowser Maire Sr.
After working for the Pepsi-Cola Co. for 17 years, he went to the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute to become a chef, where he graduated in 1992.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler, and he was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club. He also was a member of the Woodman of the World, and was an avid hunter.
He enjoyed watching football, wrestling and boxing. He also coached and refereed midget football for years, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Katie Maire of Butler.
He also is survived by a son, John Maire III and his wife, Kimberly, of Slippery Rock; a daughter, Sabrina Maire of Butler; a sister, Tina Morrison of Butler; two brothers, Richard Maire, and his wife, Lucy, of Butler and Wally Maire of Minnesota; four granddaughters, Britney N., Shania, Nicole, and Brittany L.; two grandsons, Randy and Austin, and several nieces and nephews
MAIRE — Friends of John F. Maire, Jr., who died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, , at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave. with the Rev. James Dolan officiating. Burial will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.The Bereavement Committee of St. Michael will hold vigil service at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
