James H. Furl

James H. Furl, 68, of Bonniebrook Road died Saturday at his home as a result of a tragic accident.

Born June 10, 1937, in Chicora, he was a son of the late Wesley George and Isabel Holben Furl.

He was a 1955 graduate of Penn Township High School and retired April 30, 1998, from Armco-Butler Works as a shift supervisor in silicon maintenance after 42 years.

Mr. Furl was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center.

He was an avid golfer, and was a member of the Armco/Oakview Golf Club. He enjoyed football, baseball and reading and loved to visit and play with his grandchildren.

He was the loving and caring husband of Marian E. Michel Furl, his Queenie, whom he married April 11, 1959.

Along with his wife, surviving are three sons, a daughter and their families: Jim and Michelle Furl and their children, Jim, Emily, Jade and Vladimir of Williamstown, W.Va.; Brent and Bev Furl and their children, Katie, Nathan, Meredith and Isabel of Gibsonia; Eric and Kim Furl and their children, Zach and Alex of Sanford, N.C.; and Lisa and Steve Francis and their children, Logan and Connor of Butler.

He also is survived by his father-in-law, Ralph Henry Michel; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Chuck and Dick Furl, and a sister, Norma Dee Fleming, preceded him in death.

FURL —Friends of James H. Furl, who died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at theGEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, Carbon Center, with the Rev. Kevin McKnight officiating.
