Hazel A. West
Hazel A. West, 81, of East Prairie Street, Harrisville, died at 8:44 a.m. Sunday at Grove Manor in Grove City, where she was a patient for the past two weeks.
Born in DuBois, March 30, 1924, she was the daughter of Milo and Hazel Foster Best.
She was a graduate of Harrisville High School and served as a machinist mate third class in the Navy during World War II.
Mrs. West retired in 1980 from the Office of Personnel Management in Boyers. She also had worked at Magnetics in Sandy Lake.
Mrs. West was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Care Team and was a former Sunday school teacher. She also was a member and former president of the United Methodist Women of the church.
She also belonged to the Harrisville Community Club and the Slippery Rock American Legion Post 393 and was an avid participant at the Slippery Rock Senior Center.
Surviving are her husband, Robert H. West, whom she married Jan. 18, 1946; two daughters, Sherree Lydia Jean Petrillo and Mrs. Tracey (Becky Gail) Curtis, both of Harrisville; three sons, Robert Terry West of Harrisville, Herb James West of Grand Valley, Warren County, and William Kirby West of Wichita, Kan.; 20 grandchildren, and 143 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jeanie West; two sisters, and three brothers.
WEST — Friends of Hazel A. West, who died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the JAMISON FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffrey St. Clair, her church pastor, and the Rev. David Barnhouse, pastor of Slippery Rock Baptist Church, officiating.
