Dorothy 'Cricket' Kelly

Dorothy I. "Cricket" Kelly, 81, of Bruin died of natural causes at 11:10 a.m. Monday at her home.

Born in West Monterey, Clarion County, July 29, 1924, she was the daughter of Henry R. and Anna Pearl Moore Barger.

She was an active member of the Martinsburg Church in Bruin for most of her adult life.

During World War II, she worked in the cafeteria of the former Penacol Refinery in Petrolia. Since 1992, she owned and operated, along with her daughter, the Twin Pines Craft Shop in Bruin. She enjoyed doing creative craft work and attended craft shows with her family in Western Pennsylvania for years.

Mrs. Kelly enjoyed shopping and dining out with family members many days each week. She also enjoyed traveling and was well known for her interest in hunting and fishing in the United States and Canada.

In the early years of her marriage, she and her husband provided a Christmas at their home in Bruin for boys from the orphanage in Meadville. They loved being host to those less fortunate.

Surviving are her husband, Donald S. Kelly, whom she married April 27, 1948; a daughter, Diane Macurak and her husband, Jerome, of Bruin; two sons, Donald A. Kelly and his wife, Linda, and David W. Kelly, both of Bruin; nine grandchildren, Kristen and Justin Macurak and Tiffany, Danielle, Kathrine, William A., Beth Ann, Robert and Jenna Kelly; and six great-grandchildren, Aliya Adams, Gwynth, Madison, and Zachery Kelly, Eric Dodd and Wyatt Kelly.

She also is survived by three sisters, Ethel Cumberland of Butler, Louise Slagle of Bruin and Shirley Andre of Chicora, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A brother, Byron Barger, and a grandson, Jason Allen Kelly preceded her in death.

<b>KELLY</b> — Friends of Dorothy I. "Cricket" Kelly, who died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Martinsburg Church in Bruin with the Rev. Terry Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Martinsburg Church, Bruin, PA 16022.
