Don J. Shook
Don J. Shook, 81, of Butler died Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born Feb. 5, 1924, in Center Township, he was the son of Cecil and Margaret Adams Shook.
He attended Butler and Claytonia Nazarene Church. He was an Austin Bantam car enthusiast and well known for being a craftsman and handyman.
For 22 years, he was a plumber for R.W. McDonalds and then he was a self-employed plumber.
Mr. Shook is survived by a son and two daughters, Mrs. Ira (Karol) Houk of Butler and twins Donna Fay Merritt of Butler and Don R. Shook of York; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marge Fisher of Slippery Rock, Dolly and Velma Shook, both of Chicora, and Betty Elliott of Butler; five brothers, Albert, Dennis, Carl and Melvin Shook, all of Butler, and Dale Shook of West Sunbury.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline M. Fehl Shook, who died Sept. 21, 1997; two sisters; two brothers and a grandson.
SHOOK — Friends of Don J. Shook, who died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, will be received from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at theYOUNG FUNERAL HOME, Butler. Additional viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Nazarene of Butler, 4410 Oakdale Road, with the Rev. Robert Calhoon officiating.
