Alfred F. Nebel

Alfred F. Nebel, 68,

of 110 Kocher Lane in Chicora died Saturday at his home after an illness.

Born July 4, 1937, in Washington, Pa., he was a son of Alfred J. and Mary Huselton Nebel.

He had worked in maintenance most of his life. He last worked at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center for more than five years before he retired in 2004.

Mr. Nebel was an Air Force veteran and a member of the Michael Kosar American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora. He was also a member of the East Butler Fireman's Club.

He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Stephenson Nebel, whom he married Feb. 16, 1980; two sons: Joseph Nebel of Wilson, N.C., and Michael Nebel of Davie, Fla.; two daughters, Pamela Nebel of South Carolina and Christine Nebel of Butler; a brother, Dennis L. Nebel of Butler; and three sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Helen) Fogel of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and Mrs. David (Gladys) Leech and Mrs. Robert (Alice) Christy, both of Butler. A grandson and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

His first wife, Mary Jane Snodgrass Nebel, died April 13, 1961.

NEBEL — Friends of Alfred F. Nebel, who died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin McKnight, his church pastor, officiating.
