John R. Burkett Jr.

John R. Burkett Jr., 41, of Chicora died unexpectedly Monday.

Born Feb. 23, 1964, in Butler, he was the son of John R. Burkett Sr. and the late Barbara Lee Williams Burkett.

He was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church near Hooker.

Mr. Burkett attended Butler High School and was a 1982 graduate of Moniteau High School. He played football and baseball in high school and in East Butler.

He was the owner of Burky's Auto Sales and loved attending auto auctions.

He was the devoted husband of Margaret Ann "Peggy" Fleming Burkett, whom he married July 20, 1998; and a devoted father to daughter, Faith Rita-Marie Burkett and sons Hunter Ralph, Vincent Glenn and Justin John Burkett, all at home.

Also surviving are his father of Chicora, two sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Sherri) Blackburn of Worthington and Mrs. Jack (Deana) Nichols of Grove City; a brother, Troy E. Burkett of Cranberry Township; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mae and Edward Fleming, of West Sunbury; a brother-in-law, Glen Fleming of West Sunbury; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Elaine Ambuster of Butler and James and Annie Fleming of West Sunbury; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

BURKETT — Friends of John R. Burkett Jr., who died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Mathias officiating. Burial will be at Concord Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the family's children's fund in care of the funeral home.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
