Dorothy V. Hillwig

Dorothy Virginia "Dottie" Hillwig, 80, of Sybertown Road, East Brady, died at 6:43 a.m. Friday at the Armstrong Center for Medicine and Health, Kittanning, after a brief illness.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., Oct. 4, 1925, she was a daughter of Harold W. Cooley, who died Sept. 3, 1989; and Tillie Catherine Frohnapfel Cooley, who died June 19, 1975.

She had worked at the Yardley of London Cosmetics Co. in Jersey City for three years.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond J. "Sonny" Hillwig, whom she married Nov. 4, 1945, at the St. Paul of the Cross Rectory in Jersey City; four sons, Harold Ray "Herk" Hillwig and his wife, Shelia, of Karns City R.D. 2., John Francis Hillwig and his wife, Linda, of Butler, Joseph David Hillwig and his wife, Karen, of East Brady and Stephen James Hillwig and his wife, Lois, of Jackson, N.J.; and four daughters and their spouses, Grace Catherine "Cathy" and Thomas Shepard of Rochester, Dorothy Jean "Dottie" and Thomas Douglass of Bradford, Mary Margaret and Casey Tynan of Butler and Loraine Sue "Lori" and Joseph Schwickrath of Sarver.

Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Dominick Scott Hillwig, Domina Theresa Hillwig, Johnny Raymond Hillwig, Mandy Lee Brothers and her husband Scott, Thomas Lee Shepard II and Nicole, Raymond Thomas Douglass and his wife, Katrina, Donna Jean Douglass, Matthew Joseph Hillwig, Jessica Rae Hillwig, Jenna Marie Hillwig, Nicole Elizabeth Hillwig, Aaron Casey Tynan, Steven Nathaniel Tynan, Carli Jo Schwickrath and Jacob Gerard Schwickrath; a great-granddaughter, Abbey Elizabeth Shepard; and five step-grandchildren, Heather, Travis, Jason, Nathan and Sonja; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Grace Catherine Dixon, who died May 9, 1950; Marilyn Ruth Borak, who died June 25, 1971; and two infant sisters, Miriam and Doloris Cooley.

HILLWIG — Friends of Dorothy Virginia "Dottie" Hillwig, who died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, East Brady, with the Rev. William Kuba officiating. Burial interment will follow at the church cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Blind Association of Butler, 322 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001.
