Robert Glenn Whitmire

Robert Glenn Whitmire, 82, of Cross Lanes, W.Va., died Sunday at the Heartland of Charleston in West Virginia after a long illness.

Born in Butler, July 31, 1923, he was the son of Everett and Dorothy Benton Whitmire.

He was a member of the Perrow Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon and elder.

Mr. Whitmire served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Inez Stroup Whitmire; two sisters, Betty Peters of Butler and Maxine Ray and her husband, George, of Butler; and a brother, Donald Whitmire of Cross Lanes, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dean Whitmire.

WHITMIRE — Friends of Robert Glenn Whitmire, who died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the THOMPSON MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
