Butler Cubs boxers Paul Smith and Steve Bartmas will be competing in the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Four Points Sheraton in Warrendale.

Smith will fight in the 125-pound intermediate division while Bartmas will fight in the 130-pound novice division.

NEW YORK — Roger Clemens was among 30 players picked for the U.S. roster for next month's inaugural World Baseball Classic.The 43-year-old right-hander, who led the major leagues in ERA last year, still hasn't decided whether he will pitch in the major leagues this season. He made the decision to pitch for the United States after he spent time working out in the past month.Clemens was among four starters selected for a 14-man U.S. pitching staff, joined by Jake Peavy, Dontrelle Willis and C.C. Sabathia.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Cardinals signed Kurt Warner to a three-year contract, ending speculation about their quarterback plans.The 34-year-old Warner, a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player who started 10 games for the Cardinals in an injury-shortened 2005 season, will enter training camp as the starter.

INDIANAPOLIS — Mike Davis doesn't plan to leave Indiana any time soon.After fueling speculation Monday that his tenure with the Hoosiers might be nearing an end, Davis said in interviews Tuesday that he appreciated the opportunity to coach one of the nation's most storied basketball programs.Questions about Davis' future have increased with the Hoosiers (13-8, 5-5 Big Ten) losing five of their last six games and dropping out of The Associated Press Top 25 this week for the first time this season.
