Samuel E. McDonald
Samuel Edward McDonald, 56, of Oneida Valley Road, West Sunbury, died suddenly of natural causes at 2 p.m. Thursday at his home.
Born Jan. 13, 1949, in Butler, he was the son of Albert Hortert and Margaret Mary "Peg" Sherman Hortert of North Washington.
He worked for 26 years for Penreco as a white oil operator in Karns City. After retiring in 1993, he worked in the produce department at the BiLo in Point Plaza.
He was a member of the former First Church of God in Parker and was a 1967 graduate of Moniteau High School, where he played on the high school football team.
He enjoyed being with his family and collecting wheat pennies.
Surviving him are his parents; his wife, Barbara Lou "Bobbie" Orr McDonald, whom he married on Dec. 4, 1971; three daughters, Lisa Coleen VanLieu and husband Donald of Parker, Nicole R. Yon of Butler and Samantha Elaine McDonald of Butler; three grandchildren, Corey VanLieu and Kaylie VanLieu, both of Parker and Sarah Yon of Butler; two brothers, Ronald A. McDonald of Hookstown and Albert A. Hortert and wife Wendy J. of West Sunbury; four sisters, Stella B. Chiappini and husband Philip J. of Hilliards, Marie E. Grimm and husband John of Midland, Grace B. Humphrey and husband Donald of Gordonville, Va., and Sandra J. Goff and husband Walley of Itasca, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannette H. Snow on July 27, 1999, and his father, Clarence F. McDonald in 1996.

HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with James W. LeVier Sr., a member of the Park Hill Church of God,officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.Memorial donations may be sent to Barbara Lou McDonald, 1419 Oneida Valley Road, West Sunbury, PA 16061 to be distributed to various charities of interest to the family.
