Janice A. Harrison

Janice A. Harrison, 61, of Iroquois Drive died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pittsburgh, April 14, 1944, she was the daughter of Charles J. Appel and the late Olive Hamel Appel.

She retired in 1997 after 32 years as a teacher in the Butler School District and had taught courses in radio and television production, drama production, American literature composition, speech and debate and creative writing.

Following her retirement, she operated her own video production company and worked part time at the Butler Auto Auction until her health prevented her from doing so.

She was an avid reader and loved to travel and paint. She enjoyed the theater and doing work on the computer.

Mrs. Harrison was a former member of the board of directors of the Butler Little Theatre, Animal Partners and the Butler Arts Council. She also served on the board of directors and as secretary of The Pennsylvania State Thespians.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Harrison, whom she married July 2, 1965; her father and his wife, Ursula, of Mesa, Ariz.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, C. James Appel.

HARRISON — Friends of Janice A. Harrison, who died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy Falling, pastor of the North Main Street Church of God, officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.Memorial donations may be made to the Butler Little Theater, One Howard St., Butler, PA 16001.Information is also available at www.thompson-miller.com
