Velma 'Dolly' Foringer
Velma A. "Dolly" Foringer, 92, of Sugarcreek Township, East Brady, formerly of Kaylor, died at 6:05 p.m. Sunday at the Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.
Born in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, Jan. 2, 1914, she was a daughter of Harry and Lavina King Lynch.
She was a member of the Kaylor United Methodist Church and the Kaylor Grange.
Mrs. Foringer was a 1933 graduate of Butler High School, and she and her husband operated Foringer's Store in Kaylor from 1948 until its closing in 1987.
Surviving are a son, Edwin E. Foringer and his wife, Nyoka, of East Brady; a daughter, Brenda D. DeCorte of Sanibel, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Clarence Donald "Don" Foringer, whom she married May 10, 1934, in West Virginia, died Nov. 29, 1974. As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Delmont Lynch and Walter "Whitey" Lynch; and two sisters, Mrs., Leona Davis and Mrs., Betty Plunkard. A son-in-law, John L. DeCorte, died March 13, 2004.
FORINGER — Friends of Velma A. "Dolly" Foringer, who died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Randall Forester, pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Chicora, officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
