Moniteau senior Larissa Fowler will be attending the Eastern J1 and J2 Ski Racing Finals in Okemo, Vt., Friday through Thursday.

Fowler will compete in the slalom, giant slalom, Super G and doawnhill. She earned this trip by posting strong finishes in Pennsylvania Alpine Racing Association events.

The finals race will feature the best junior ski racers from each eastern state.

Members of the Seneca Valley varsity football team recently participated in the M.A.C. powerlifting competition at Blackhawk High School.Don Barclay, Brandon Anewalt, Steve Schnaubelt, John Smathers and Sean Gallagher finished third out of 29 teams with a total of 5,240 pounds lifted in the bench press, squatr and dead-lift.Schnaubelt had the second-best dead-lift in the competition at 480 pounds.

Butler graduate Kim Nowakowski and Slippery Rock University's Amber McFeely have been named to the all-PSACWest women's basketball team.Nowakowski, a 6-foot-2 sophomore forward for PSACWest champion California (Pa.), received first-team honors. She led the Vulcans with 14.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She also paced the squad with a .531 3-point field goal percentage and 41 blocked shots.Nowakowski is shooting 74.3 percent from the free throwline and is 18 rebounds short of 500 for her collegiate career.Grove City High School graduate McFeely, a senior point guard for The Rock, earned second team honors. She averaged 7.3 points and 6.0 assists per game and is SRU's single-season and career record-holder in assists.

MINNEAPOLIS — Daunte Culpepper wants out of Minnesota.Culpepper's shaky relationship with the Vikings deteriorated further when the quarterback said he wants to be released if the team fails to trade him.

DENVER — Colorado and Montreal swapped goalies with Jose Theodore heading to the Avalanche in exchange for David Aebischer.The trade marks the second time a high-profile goaltender left Montreal for Denver, following Patrick Roy's historic move to the mile-high city during the 1995-96 season.Theodore, 29, has a 3.46 goals-against average and an .881 save percentage this season. Aebischer, 28, has a 2.98 goals-against average.
