Jean Viola McIntire
Jean Viola McCracken McIntire, 85, formerly of Maryland, Bradfordwoods and Butler County, died Sunday at Shellpoint Retirement Village, South Fort Myers, Fla.
Born in Worth Township, Feb. 8, 1920, she was the daughter of Harry and Minta Studebaker Allison McCracken.
She was a retired teacher and had graduated from Slippery Rock High School and Slippery Rock State Teachers College. She first taught at the Wolf Creek School in Worth Township and later taught in Lyndora and Forest Hills and retired the from Bradfordwoods schools.
Mrs. McIntire was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Worth Township.
Surviving are four nieces and their husbands, Maxine and James McMurtry of Bethlehem, Northampton County, Sandra and Bruce McDonald of Casselberry, Fla., Dorothy and Duane Conway of Wexford and Peggy and Dean Holben of Slippery Rock; and a niece-in-law, Jeanne Allison of South Fort Myers.
Her husband, John “Jack” McIntire, whom she married July 28, 1951, died Aug. 21, 1989. A nephew, Richard Allison, also preceded her in death.
<B>McINTIRE</B> — Friends of Jean Viola McCracken McIntire, who died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zion Baptist Church, 154 Currie Road, Worth Township. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Thomas Meling officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Slippery Rock, is handling arrangements.
