Logan Cribbs Jr.
Logan "Bud" "Squire" Cribbs Jr., 85, of Buffalo Township died peacefully at 8 a.m. Monday at his home.
Born in Leechburg, Jan. 24, 1921, he was the son of Logan L. and Goldie I. Myers Cribbs.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport.
Mr. Logan was an Air Force and Army veteran During World War II, he served in Europe with the 817th Tank Destroyer Battalion and the 1275th Combat Engineer Division.
After the war, he was a paper slitter at Allegheny Ludlum Steel and retired in 1979 after 41 years.
He was a founding member, past president and a life member of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department and had more than 20 years of active service. He was a charter member of the Sarver Veterans Club and served on the Freeport School Board.
In his free time, he enjoyed antiquing and spending time with all his family.
He is survived by five daughters, Sandra (Darryl) Elder of Buffalo Township, Linda (David) Beatty of Grove City, Shirleen (Richard) Mitchell of DuBois, Beth Cribbs of New Kensington and Leisa (Thomas) Brothers of Buffalo Township; three sons, Logan L. (Linda) Cribbs of Indiana, Pa., Terry (John Benzinger) Cribbs of Valencia and Keith (Sheryl) Cribbs of Buffalo Township; three sisters, June (Walter) Klingensmith and Dorothy (James) Games, both of Leechburg, and Lona (Lee) Keagle of Kittanning; and a brother, Harold (Hazel) Cribbs of Leechburg.
He also is survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Betty I. Noble Cribbs, died in 1999. A brother, Robert Cribbs, and two great-grandchildren, Celia and Katie Runco, preceded him in death.
CRIBBS — Friends of Logan "Bud" "Squire" Cribbs Jr., who died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at theREDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport, with the Rev. James Neal officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Sarverville Cemetery, Sarver.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Fifth St., Freeport, PA 16229.
