Miriam B. Young
Miriam B. Young, 101, of Harmony died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Evergreen Nursing Center after a short illness.
Born Nov. 19, 1904, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of William Phillip and Evelyn S. Hull Britsch.
She moved to Philadelphia when young and obtained a nursing degree at Chestnut Hill Hospital. She married Dr. W.W. They were the only medical care available within a 50-mile radius and in the winter many calls were made on snowshoes or by horse and sleigh.
After returning to the states and living in Philadelphia for some years, they moved to Butler, where Dr. Young worked at Deshon Hospital and Mrs. Young was an office nurse for Dr. Robert Hunt. She did volunteer work for the Public Health Department.
They then moved to Chillicothe, Ohio.
Dr. Young died in 1974 and Mrs. Young returned to the Butler area to be near her family. She lived with her daughter until going to Evergreen.
Mrs. Young was an avid duplicate bridge player. While accompanying her husband to England in the 1960s on a lecture engagement, she had an audience with Queen Elizabeth II, an honor she never forgot.

Young IV and his wife, Jane, of Beaver Falls; five grandchildren, Ruth Ann Dunmyre of Aurora, Col., Kathy Hart of East Liverpool, Ohio, David Dunmyre of Butler, William W.
