Butler Police11:04 a.m. Monday — Acar driven by Kathryn Martin, 56, of Center Township and a tractor-trailer driven by Travus Whitehead, 34, of Sidman, Cambria County collided at Main and Wayne streets.Sunday — Tonya Schmidt, 24, of Butler was charged with passing four bad checks to the Friedman's market on West Brady Street. The checks were written between Feb. 22 and 26 and totaled $186.57.

State Police, Mercer2:50 a.m. Wednesday—Matthew Peters, 20, of Mars was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a utility pole along Route 208 near Old Ash Road in Springfield Township, Mercer County.

Cranberry Twp Police7:41 a.m. Wednesday — While township police were taking Heather Dawn Evans, 38, of Cranberry Township from the township police station to the Butler County Prison, following her arrest and preliminary arraignment on charges of harassment and simple assault, Evans attempted to escape from police by jumping out of the police vehicle on Route 228 near the Mars High School. Police said she slipped out of her handcuffs and nylon transport belt. Officers recaptured the woman after about a 30-yard foot chase. Evans was arraigned on the same day on the additional charge of escape before District Judge Wayne Seibel.

Zelienople Police9:12 a.m. Thursday — James Davidson of Chestnut Street reported the windshield of his vehicle was smashed with a rock while it was parked on Market Street overnight.12:26 a.m. Wednesday — Shawn Eric Harper, 33, of Ellwood City was arrested on a driving under the influence of alcohol charge following a traffic stop on West New Castle Street. Police said they witnessed the driver cross the center line on several occasions on both West Grandview and West New Castle streets.
