SRU rallies to split twinbill
The Slippery Rock University baseball team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 7-6 victory over Mansfield to earn a doubleheader split Tuesday at Critchfield Park.
Mansfield had scored twice in the top half of the inning to take a 6-4 lead.
The Rock (12-7) was led by Chris Tolliver, who had three hits, three runs scored, three RBI and a stolen base. J.D. Lowry added two hits and an RBI, and Ryan Dillon had two hits and two runs scored.
Slippery Rock High graduate Scott Rice pitched five innings of relief to earn the win.
In the first game, Mansfield (16-10) scored six runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to take control in a 12-3 victory.
Todd Schickling had a double, single and an RBI, Phil Butch a single and two runs scored and Tolliver a double, single and RBI for The Rock.
