Richard A. 'Dick' Voelker
Richard A. "Dick" Voelker, 74, of South Duffy Road died unexpectedly Tuesday in his home.
Born in Butler, Sept. 8, 1931, he was the son of Clarence A. and Catherine C. Peters Voelker.
A former co-owner of C.A. Voelker Paving, which was sold in 1999, he was employed by Shockey Excavating.
Mr. Voelker was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
He was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association, the Sheffield VFW, the National Rifle Association and was a special deputy sheriff of Butler County.
He was a volunteer for the pancake dinner sponsored by Lifesteps. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, camping, outdoor work, woodworking and motorcycle riding.
Surviving are his wife, Lois J. Plunkard Voelker, whom he married on Sept. 8, 1951; two daughters, Catherine Wright and Mrs. Dave (Sandra) Meeder, both of Butler; two sons, Roger and his wife, Judy, Voelker of Butler, and Tim and his wife, Esther Jo, Voelker of West Sunbury; a brother, Robert M. and his wife, Germaine, Voelker of Herman; eight grandchildren, Amanda and her husband, Luke, Pollick, Ashlee Voelker, Scott and Tia Wright, Max and Maggie Voelker and Kody and Dillon Meeder; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
<B>VOELKER</B> — Friends of Richard A. "Dick" Voelker, who died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. William King, pastor of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.Memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
