CRANBERRY TWP — Mike Rossetti of Cranberry Township, a member of the U.S. Olympic Educational Center Greco-Roman wrestling team, won the 189-pound Pennsylvania State Junior Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship in Clarion recently.
Rossetti and teammate Kaleb Kolb, a sophomore at Grove City High, will be among those competing at the ASICS/Vaughan Junior National Wrestling Championships July 22 to 29 in Fargo, N.D.
PULASKI — Ryan Prokay of Grove City won the Division C competition at the Keystone Public Golf Association's P.J. Boatwright Junior Qualifier at Tanglewood Golf Course recently.Prokay's score of 77 was three strokes better than runner-up Shane Eichenlaub of New Castle.
HARRISONBURG, Va. — Butler graduate Annie Lowry, a sophomore women's soccer player at James Madison University, was named an honorable mention for an Academic All-State Award by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.The art and interior design major has a 3.733 grade-point average and earned all-region and all-CAA honors last fall.
GROVE CITY — Andrew Leuenberger, a Grove City College cross country and track standout, was selected as a College Division Third-Team Academic All-American for both sports by the College Sports Information Directors of America and ESPN The Magazine.The junior is a three-year cross country letterman and a two-time letterwinner in track who helped that team to its second straight Presidents' Athletic Conference by placing third in the 5,000-meter run and fifth in the 10,000.Leuenberger owns a 3.99 grade-point average in molecular biology and has been inducted into numerous honorary academic organizations.
